BECAUSE FRANKFORT NEEDS A CHANGE

Background

About Brian Simpson,

  • Daughter, Riley 4 years old
  • Life long resident of Louisville, Kentucky
  • Occupation: United Parcel Service for 20+ years

Louisville has been my home since I was born in 1967. Even though I had opportunities to leave our great city when I was younger, the thought of leaving friends, family and this community was too much to lose.

I currently work for United Parcel Service. I began my employment in early 1989 and am proud to also be a strong member of Teamsters Local 89.

I am also proud to have worked for General Electric Appliance Park for 8 years. I began my employment there in 1994-2002 when I resigned to take a fulltime position with UPS. I was proud of my work there and as a strong member of Local 761 IUE-CWA.

WHY I AM RUNNING FOR THE 46TH DISTRICT HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

I believe that Kentuckians are disappointed in not only this past legislation session but the sessions of the past. The majority of today’s problems seem to be a snowball effect of our current leaders constantly putting off the problems and issues for latter times. THIS HAS TO STOP!! Each time we have a budget problem, the answer to our current leaders is always the same…raise taxes somehow…somewhere on the working men and women in the District and state. I say NO MORE. Our current leaders seem to enjoy taxing what I call…our citizens Personal Choice. HB 144 was a TAX on alcohol sales and an increase on the TAX rate of cigarettes. Our current Representative not only voted in favor of this TAX but sponsored this bill. It's always easy to take the easy way out and just…pass the cost of things to the easiest people…US! I say NO MORE. What we need in Frankfort my friends is legislators who actually want to work and are willing to compromise with the other party members to solve these issues. I will gladly be willing to reach across the aisle, shake the hand of any Democrat and say the words…”you have a great plan, lets go with it”. But not this group of leaders..it's their way or no way, there is very little compromising.

It is my vow to you, the working men and women of not only District 46 but to this entire state, that I will FIGHT for lower taxes for all, which includes the repealing of HB 144 and fight to keep our citizens safe by increasing funding for our Police and Fire departments. Increase the pay of our great teachers in this state to ensure that we have the very best possible education for our children and to employ a parent notification program so that when ANY acts of violence occurs either on our school buses or in our classroom, each parent of those students in those rooms or buses is notified by letter explaining that an unsafe act has occurred.

This is NOT a career job to me my friends…I do not need 30 years as your Representative to make a difference. This state has a habit of sending the same people over and over again back to Frankfort so they can continue passing on the problems that they have helped create to the working men and women of this state. I say NO MORE!! Lets join together TODAY!!!

Brian's Beliefs...

I have always believed that citizens who want a better community need to be willing to step in and make a positive difference in the way your state government works for you. I have decided that it is time for the 46th District to make this change and to get Frankfort moving in a positive direction for once!
